VAN is defined as:
A covered or enclosed truck or wagon often used for transporting goods or livestock. The vanguard; the forefront. A wing (of your company). The front of an army; the first line or leading column; also, the front line of foremost division of a fleet, either in sailing or in battle. Artists or writers whose ideas are ahead of their time. The leading units moving at the head of an army. A truck with an enclosed cargo space.

The aspect of military operations that deals with the procurement, distribution, maintenance, & replacement of material & personnel. The management of the details of an operation. That branch of military art which embraces the details of moving & supplying armies. The meaning of the word is by some writers to include strategy. Handling an operation that involves providing labor & materials as needed.

The main reason for naming our company (besides the literal meanings above) is the founder, Jason K. Lewis, had a grandfather named Granpa Van. Grandpa Van (short for his last name - Van Voorhis) used to own a grocery store in the small town of Bucklin, KS called VAN's IGA. The Van Voorhis family settled there in the late 1800s & four generations of the family owned the only grocery store in town until the late 1908s. It might have been the only grocery store in the country where you could get your groceries & your hair cut at the same time since he was also the town barber! Our primary focus here at VAN Logistics is the food & beverage industry, so we thought this would be a perfect fit. The legacy continues...
